I’ve always had a messy style. I could make my paintings neater and more realistic, but something about the character of imperfect paint strokes and drips speak to me more. Maybe it’s because I see myself in this style of painting. Some strokes look on track, but most are not. They’re messy. But it’s when the individual strokes comes together that a beautiful piece is born.
I think that’s how the Lord sees me. I have more “messy” moments a day than I can count, but He is shaping me into something that’s always been apart of His plan. When I see adversity, He sees an opportunity. When I think my life is out of control, He’s behind it all- directing the paint brush, making me into His beautiful creation stroke by stroke. One day, in another life, I’ll get there. He will turn my mess into something that’s beautiful. And it’s in no way credit to me, the paint. It’s all due to a painter- a loving, sovereign, creative painter that, by grace, has chosen me to be His choice of paint. And for that I am eternally grateful.
For it is through God and God alone that anything good comes from me. Thank you for the opportunity to share the joy of Christ through my art.
